JUMBO HAARLEM

While I was working at Vijf890... one of my tasks was to work on JUMBO's announcement posters. In 2020 JUMBO has opened two supermarket in the city centre of Haarlem within a few months time. JUMBO CITY (small supermarket) and the regular JUMBO.

As you may know, Frans Hals (Antwerp 1581 - Haarlem 1666) is a very famous painter and has its own museum in Haarlem's city centre. He painted really beautiful portraits, known worldwide. We thought it would be nice to let them do their groceries at the new JUMBO supermarkets. First they went to the new JUMBO City, which was just around the corner. After we received a lot of positive reactions and compliments we'd let them also shop at the regular JUMBO when it opened in November. As it got colder they also took the bus.

Frans Hals artwork credits:
- A Militiaman Holding a Berkemeyer, known as the ‘Merry Drinker’, c. 1628 - c. 1630, Rijksmuseum.

- Portrait of Feyntje van Steenkiste, by Frans Hals,1635, Rijksmuseum.

- Portrait of a gentleman, aged 37, 1637.
